Arranged chronologically this sub-series primarily comprises of letters sent by John Butler Yeats while he was living in New York and residing at the Petipas boarding house, 317 West 29th street, New York. Many of the letters include sketches; these are often portraits but also include a number of sketches relating to World War I, and suggested compositions for Jack Butler Yeats’s work.
