Letter from Andrew Jameson to Augustus John, asking whether he received his letter of 20 May
Download: view IIIF manifest
Description
Letter in which Jameson writes that he received no answer to his earlier letter (see IE NGI/IA/JAM1/1/12). However, the point is moot as the British Government has issued an order preventing the issue of exit permits for Ireland, so John could not travel in any case. Jameson reluctantly concludes that they will have to write off their plans for the portrait, and requests a reply from John as to whether he agrees with this assessment of things.
