Letter from John Millington Synge, Lough Bray cottage, Enniskerry, county Wicklow to Jack Butler Yeats
Description
Manuscript. Expresses pleasure at receiving Jack’s letter with news of his trip to the Rhine area of Germany. Gives details of this three week stay in Enniskerry and recounts seeing an ‘admirable cakewalk danced by one of the convicts’ at a local reformatory. Synge plans to return to Dun Laoghaire at the end of the week and then to Kerry if his health permits. Mentions that he saw Masefield in London: ‘he seems much bent, it is pitiable to see him in such an establishment’.
