Description
Collection contains letters and documents relating to Roderic O’Conor and Renée Honta. The largest group comprises thirteen letters written by Roderic O’Conor to Honta. Most are undated, all are in French. A further nine letters to O’Conor date from 1895 to 1932; they include letters from Alfred Jarry, Somerset Maugham, several friends and one business letter. There are receipts and letters from art dealers to O’Conor as well as a copy of his will, an insurance certificate, his business card and a photograph of O’Conor taken [c.1933]. Other material includes two letters from James Milner Kite to Renée Honta O’Conor in 1940 which detail the chronology of Roderic O’Conor’s life; the application made by Renée Honta O’Conor to regain her French citizenship in 1941 and some letters and documents which relate to her life as an artist. In addition there is a letter to O’Conor’s sister in Dublin relating to the lease on the O’Conor land holdings in County Roscommon.
