Description
Manuscript letter from Kernoff at 13 Stamer Street, Dublin 8 (Ireland) to White (10th Director of the National Gallery of Ireland) in green ink on the back of a reproduction woodcut titled "Dark Horse" by Kernoff regarding an exhibition of 41 of his portraits of Irish writers, painters, and actors at the Robertstown Grand Hotel as part of the Robertstown Festival. Kernoff explains that he will not sell them individually as it would break up the set, and offers them together for two thousand pounds to remain together in Ireland. An attached list written on the back of a printed poem by Kernoff titled "After an exhibition of abstract and subjective art" details the subjects of the paintings including James Joyce, Jimmy O'Dea, W.B. Yeats, Jack Yeats, Hilton Edwards, Michael McLiammoir, Seán O'Casey, Brendan Behan, Brinsley MacNamara, George Russell (AE), and James Stephens among others.
