Correspondence
Description
This series contains eight letters exchanged between Harry Kernoff and James White, tenth Director of the National Gallery of Ireland, regarding the possibile (and ultimately unsuccessful) sale to the National Gallery of Ireland of a collection of portraits of well-known Irish individuals in Kernoff's possession that he executed over the course of his career as an artist. Some letters sent by Kernoff are written on the back of the artist's woodcuts as well as copies of his poetry, and others include detailed lists of the titles and subjects of the portraits concerned in these negotiations.
