Description
Manuscript letter in French with accompanying translation into English by Sir Frederic William Burton from Kessels to Burton offering to sell a painting of St. Jerome by Albrecht Dürer which was originally the chief part of an altar originally in Cologne. Kessels relates that he and his brothers and sisters would take no less that twenty seven thousand pounds stirling for the painting. Letter bears a British Museum numbering stamp dated 30 June 1881.
