Description
Letter from Pembroke at Wilton House, Salisbury to Burton regarding the possibility that "a new National Gallery may be built" and that a "gentleman of the name of Tate offers to [leave] his collection to the [nation] on condition that a new gallery be erected". Pembroke desires Burton's opinion on such an undertaking. Pembroke discusses a conversation with a [Mr. Walts] and his feeling that art should be incorporated into the construction of great buildings.
