Handwritten and illustrated card from William Crampton Gore to his daughter Elizabeth, about his recent operation

A postcard written by Gore from his hospital bed after being operated on. He humorously retells the way he looked as he was taken to the operating theatre (“like Father Christmas”). The front of the card is a sketch entitled “Me being taken to the operating theatre”, depicting a profile view two men and a nun rolling Gore’s bed down a corridor. Gore has also written “Wishing you many happy returns!” above the drawing.
