Letter from John Butler Yeats to Ruth Hart regarding his relatives in World War I

Handwritten letter from John Butler Yeats to Ruth Hart discussing his nephews and cousins currently fighting in World War I [WWI], his lecture in Pittburgh and the role of women in the arts in America. Yeats writes of his sister's eldest son who,after a campaign in Gallipoli, is a 1st Leuitenant in the Royal Engineers in Egypt. He goes on to write of his lecture in Pittsburgh, which is 'run by the Ulster Irish', and that all arts including celebrations and the theatre are run by women in America. The women are extroverted, which he writes is 'American brilliancy'. Included are two drawings, on of the Ulster women who attended his lecture and the other is of two women laughing while two men look on.
