Description
Handwritten letter from May Manning, art teacher, to Mary Swanzy, her previous student, congratulating her on winning the Taylor Prize and her painting in the RHA [Royal Hibernian Academy]. Manning writes that she has encouraged people to see it, that she has dismissed her own students and that Swanzy’ s painting technique is not to Dermod O'Brien's liking. Manning also discusses [Sarah] Purser, [Clare] Marsh and Miss Hamilton.
