Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 11th October 1974 in which the following was discussed: Mrs Frances Ruane was appointed as Education Officer to the Gallery. The Director read his report on the summer restoration programme, and it was resolved that the students would continue their work over their winter vacation. The restoration of rooms 10, 11 and 12 were still in progress. The following gifts were accepted; a wax miniature of Daniel O'Connell, "Sheep by J.M. Kavanagh [NGI 4113], "A November Evening," also by J.M. Kavanagh [NGI 4114], a portrait of Professor W. Elsner by Louis Werner [NGI 4115], "View of Dublin from the Mountains" by William Craig, and two sketches by Patrick Tuohy [NGI 4116-4117]. The following were approved for purchase; a portrait of Seamus Heaney by E.A. McGuire [NGI 4112], a miniature portrait of Henry Joy McCracken, a portrait of Madam Maude Gonne McBride by John Butler Yeats {NGI 7712], and two views of Dublin by James Malton. Three loan requests were sanctioned. Three functions were permitted to be held in the Gallery, along with four lectures, concerts and exhibitions. The Shaw Fund and the Lane Fund were discussed.
