Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 4th February 1972 in which the following was discussed: a letter was received from the Royal Dublin Society stating that Mr F.H. Langan was replacing Mr Dunne-Cullinan on the board. Dr Francoise Henry and Sir Alfred Beit were both reappointed to the board. "Self-Portrait" by Gerard Dillon was approved for purchase [NGI 4042], as well as "Portrait of Mrs Dillon" by Miss Archer Shee. The following pictures were accepted as gifts; "The Frightened Horses" by James Arthur O'Connor [NGI 4041], "Portrait of Jack B. Yeats" by John Butler Yeats [NGI 4040], and "Portrait of Dr George Furlong" by Harriet Kirkwood [NGI 4043]. The board received five requests for loans, which were sanctioned. Three functions were approved to be held in the Gallery. The Director's annual report was submitted and approved, and agreed to be shown to the press. Discussion was held regarding the Shaw Fund and the Lane Fund.
