Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 20th October 1967 in which the following was discussed: a report from the Attorney-General was read in regards to the legality of the Gallery purchasing furniture. Hon. Connor A. Maguire was reappointed to the board. The board had a detailed discussion about their picture lending policy. The board sanctioned loans to the National Gallery of Canada, the Royal Academy of London, and to the Irish Georgian Society. The gift of a self-portrait of John Butler Yeats was accepted [NGI 6313], along with multiple gifts from Mrs Christina Edgeworth Colum. The board accepted two items offered on loan to the Gallery. Ten items were approved for purchase. Discussion was held regarding the opening of the new Gallery wing. The board decided to organise an exhibition to celebrate the work of AE (George Russell). It was agreed to once again hold the Children's Art Holiday in the Gallery. Discussion was held relating to both the Shaw and the Lane Funds.
