Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 2nd October 1957 in which the following was discussed: the Director announced the appointment of Mr Richard McGonigal [Maurice McGonigal?] to the board. It was agreed to extend the loan period of the "Liffey Swim" by Yeats to the Dublin Muncipal Gallery. Mr H F Rubenstein made a request to erect a replica of the statue of Shaw by Troubetzkoy [NGI 8105] on 'the Thames Embankment', decision postponed until next meeting. The offer of a "Flemish Portrait of a Woman" was accepted from Lord Wicklow. A request from the Hague Museum for the loan of a "Portrait of Sir Walter Raleigh" [William Segar, NGI 281] was declined as its condition made it unsuitable for travel in winter. It was agreed to transcribe and circulate the minutes of the meetings from now on.
