Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 1st December 1948 in which the following was discussed: the Musee des Arts Decoratifs no longer required the loan of a painting from the Gallery. Miss Evie Hone and J.B. Yeats were reappointed to the board. The Director submitted the estimates for 1949-1950 which were approved. From the sale of the late Dr William Cremin, the Director purchased "Judith with the head of Holofernes" by Meclion Fesela [NGI 1176], "Interior with figures, utensils and animals" by van Henessen [NGI 1177] and " Drawing of Powerscourt House, Dublin" by James Malton [NGI 3019]. The gift of a picture by Daubigny was accepted [NGI 1796]. A picture, "Saint Peter denying Christ" attributed to Caravaggio [Pensionante del Saraceni], was approved for purchase [NGI 1178]. Two pictures by Jonathan Fisher were declined for purchase. The Director reported on the credit of the Lane Fund.
