Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 6th October 1948 in which the following was discussed: the Director submitted the final report of the Finance Solicitor in regards to the Hone Bequest. The gift of a painting "Interior" by Vuillard by the Friends of the Irish National Collections was accepted [NGI 3017]. The Director was authorised to attend the sale of the late Dr W.M. Cremin's collection, with a budget of £2000. Three pictures were submitted for purchase, one by Titian, one from a French School, and one attributed to Caravaggio. The Director was instructed to ask the vendor to submit the picture by Caravaggio for approval. A portrait by J.B. Yeats was decliend, while a drawing by W.B. Yeats was accepted [NGI 3018]. The Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, requested the loan of a picture, which was granted. The Director reported on the state of the Lane Fund.
