Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 2nd June 1948 in which the following was discussed: in regards to the previous meeting, the Director reported that he had received quotations for the production of a new catalogue from The Fine Art Engravers, Ltd. London, which were accepted. The Director was nominated as judge for the Taylor Art Scholarship 1949 with Miss Evie Hone being alternative judge. The City Art Gallery in Leeds requested the loan of two pictures, which was granted. The Arts Council of Great Britain requested the loan of one picture, which was also granted. The Director commented on the investments of the Lane Fund. A mask of W.B. Yeats by Kathleen Scott was offered for purchase but declined. The gift of a landscape picture by Gaspard Poussain (Dughet) was accepted [NGI 1166]. A gift of works by the Lemercier family was accepted, with portions of it being deemed more suitable for the National Library and Dublin Municipal Gallery of Modern Art [NGI 1167-1174 and NGI 3008-3016]. The Director reported on the credit of the Lane Fund.
