Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 3rd February 1943 in which the following was discussed: the Director had purchased "The Stigmatisation of St. Franciscus" by Frederico Barocci [NGI 1103]. Lord Longford and Mr Holloway were reappointed to the board. The Director's annual report for 1942 was submitted. Lord Longford and Mr O'Brien were appointed auditors for the Lane fund for 1942. The loan of the bust of Henry Grattan was granted as it was not currently on display in the Gallery. The Abbey Theatre submitted a request for the loan of a drawing of W.B. Yeats by Edmund Dulac, which was granted. The Director submitted a list of pictures offered for purchase, three of which the board instructed him to try and secure. A gift of a picture ["Bacchanal with Putti"] by Pieter Jan Balthazar de Gree was accepted [NGI 1106]. The Director reported on the state of the Lane Fund.
