Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 5th June 1929 in which the following was discussed: the Director submitted to the board a draft scheme for the Haverty bequest, which they considered exhaustively. The board resolved that the Director should confer with the Solicitor for the Attorney General in reagrds to the conclusions in the scheme, which are listed in detail. The Director proposed an exhibition of items in the National Collection associated with Daniel O'Connell, which was approved. The Director was authorised to purchase an unrecorded El Greco in Spain for no more than £4000. The board accepted a gift of a pencil sketch of Sir Hugh Lane by J.B. Yeats. They also accepted a portrait of Jane Schwerzell by her husband, Martin Creagan [NGI 918]. The offer of a portrait of the Rt. Hon. Henry Hutton was declined and redirected to the Dublin Municipal Authorities. The board agreed to lend a picture of Lady Cosgrave and children for the upcoming exhibition of Retrospective Britsh Art to be held in Brussels. The annual report of the Royal Automobile Buildings Company Ltd. was received and accepted. The Director reported on the credit of the Lane Fund.
