Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 3rd May 1926 in which the following was discussed: the advisability of purchasing lot 98 ["Cows with Herdsman" after Aelbert Cuyp, NGI 344] which was to be sold by order of the Trustees of His Grace, The Duke of Leinster, was considered. The board approved the purchase of H.B. Brabazon drawings for £1500 [NGI 2753-2768]. Mr Cornelius J. Sullivan of New York offered as a gift, three portraits by J.B. Yeats from the John Quinn Collection, which was accepted with thanks. An autographed letter from Daniel O'Connell was offered the the Gallery and accepted. A miniature portrait of Archbishop Whateley was declined.
