Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 3rd December 1924 in which the following was discussed: the Drector was tasked with disposing an unwanted picture from the Bridgford bequest by auction or private treaty whenever he could. The Director was authorised to lend pictures from the Hone exhibition of 1921 to the Public Art Gallery and Museum in Belfast. The Director had purchased a picture by Bernardo Strozzi [NGI 856], and he was also instrcuted to purchase a portrait of Dr Kuno Meyer [NGI 859]. The board were presented with a gift of a painting by Walter Osborne "A View of Hastings" which they accepted [NGI 858]. The Director reported that the Yeats and O'Leary portraits were being exhibited in America but Judge James Byrne of New York was instructed to accquire them at the agreed purchase price.
