Description

Minutes of a board meeting held on 5th March 1874 in which the following was discussed: a position on the board had become vacant due to the death of Lord Pigot, and the Director was to write to the Under Secretary of the Lord Lieutenant to address this. There had been a new appointment to the Finance Committee. The board approved of adjustments made to the purchases of a portrait of the Marquis of Thomond and of a portrait of Sir Henry Lawrence [NGI 131 and NGI 135]. The board agreed to a purchase of a self-portrait by the late Mr Catterson Smith [NGI 122]. The Director submitted a landscape of Holland which he had purchased and it was approved by the board. They also approved of a purchase made of a painting of King Charles II. The board accepted the donation of catalogues from the International Exhibition in London.
