Description
Manuscript letter on headed paper, addressed from Connor's studio at 302 New Jersey Avenue S.E., Washington, D.C. to Tuite apologising for not writing sooner, Connor has lately been "subject to strict scrutiny." Connor is going ahead with the Robert Emmet statue and has the full size [model] nearly completed, hoping to raise funds for the bronze casting so as to have the statue dedicated next October. Connor asks Tuite to stop by the home of Donellan, whom Connor has not heard from, in order to pick up papers relating to the Emmet statue project and relay them to John O'Leary. Connor hopes to be in New York for 10 [June]. Connor also comments on the nomination of Charles Evans Hughes for President in the upcoming 1916 US presidential election, stating Hughes is "the one man that the Ambassador to Great Britain wants in the White House and he'll get him there."
